When did you start playing your instrument?

Age 9.

What do you do when you’re not playing in the LSO?

I am a psychiatrist in private practice.

When, or how, did you come to join the orchestra?

I joined the orchestra 20 years ago after I moved to Philadelphia.  I called Irving to find out if there were any openings in the clarinet section, and he invited me and my husband over to his house.  After I played for him, Martha served us tea and cake, and the next week I went to my first rehearsal with the orchestra.

Do you play in any other musical groups?

I am a member of a wind quintet — Earth, Fire and Winds.

Are you originally from Lansdowne/Philadelphia?

I am originally from South Africa.
