What do you do when you’re not playing in the LSO?
I am a psychiatrist in private practice.
When, or how, did you come to join the orchestra?
I joined the orchestra 20 years ago after I moved to Philadelphia. I called Irving to find out if there were any openings in the clarinet section, and he invited me and my husband over to his house. After I played for him, Martha served us tea and cake, and the next week I went to my first rehearsal with the orchestra.
Do you play in any other musical groups?
I am a member of a wind quintet — Earth, Fire and Winds.
Are you originally from Lansdowne/Philadelphia?
I am originally from South Africa.
